Part of a series? Yup! This is the third and final book in the Splintered trilogy.

After surviving a disastrous battle at prom, Alyssa has embraced her madness and gained perspective. She's determined to rescue her two worlds and the people and netherlings she loves. Even if it means challenging Queen Red to a final battle of wills and wiles . . . and even if the only way to Wonderland, now that the rabbit hole is closed, is through the looking-glass world--a parallel dimension filled with mutated and violent netherling outcasts. In the final installment of the wildly popular Splintered trilogy, Alyssa and her dad journey into the heart of magic and mayhem in search of her mom and to set right all that's gone wrong. Together with Jeb and Morpheus, they must salvage Wonderland from the decay and destruction that has ensnared it. But if they succeed and come out alive, can everyone truly have their happily ever after?

More often than not, I find that it's harder for me to write reviews of books I love than it is for me to write them for books I didn't like. It's especially hard for the end of a series I adore. I want to gush about all the things I loved about it and all the things that came together in the conclusion, but I also don't want to spoil it for other people. That's the struggle I'm going through right now, so forgive me if this is more gushing than anything else. I'm trying to contain my spoilery.

This book deserves all the stars. I loved every page of it, even when my heart felt like it was being ripped open. All the characters we know and love from the first two books (and yes, those we dislike as well) are together again, with the help of some new, totally awesome characters, and trying to save Wonderland once and for all. Their struggles and triumphs are vividly brought to life with Howard's magic writing style.

Amidst the struggle to restore Wonderland, there's the ever present struggle within Alyssa between her human and netherling sides and therefore between the human and netherling men that she loves. As you probably already know, I'm not one for love triangles, but the one between Jeb, Alyssa, and Morpheus is so well done. Though I'm Team Jeb, I will admit that Morpheus is a fantastic, complicated character that I grew to love. As to who Alyssa, chose, well, you'll just have to read to find out. ;)

There is so much more I want to say about this amazing book, but I don't want everyone to experience the greatness for themselves, so I'll end with this: Ensnared is everything a fan of a series hopes to find in a conclusion. There were parts that gave me goosebumps, parts that made me cry, parts that had me giggling and swooning and everything in between. It's the perfect ending to an amazing series, and I was extremely satisfied (though I'm of course sad to see this trilogy come to an end). If you haven't read the Splintered series, you should seriously consider starting it. I can honestly say that it's one of my favorites.

    1. I did the same thing! It sat on my shelf for about a week before I decided I absolutely needed to know how it ends. You should read it! I hope you like it as much as I do.
