Top Ten Books I Just HAD to Buy...but Are Still Unread on My Bookshelf

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's topic is a freebie, so I went through the list of previous topics and picked one. I chose Top Ten Books I Just HAD to Buy...but Are Still Unread on My Bookshelf. We all have *those* books, don't we? Here are ten of mine:

Uglies by Scott Westerfield / Me Before You by Jojo Moyes / What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen / Let the Storm Break by Shannon Messenger / A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray / The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons / Landline by Rainbow Rowell / Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard / This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales / Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

These are all books I bought because they were either super cheap and/or I wanted them for a signing. Hopefully I'll get to them soon! We'll see how that goes...

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. A new topic is given every week.

This week's theme is Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases for the Rest of 2015. I'm pretty sure a lot of those are on a lot of other people's lists, so I'm sorry if you see these a thousand times today. (But not really because pretty covers.)

So here we goooo!

There are tons and tons of other amazing sounding novels that are releasing later this year. These are just a few that really stood out to me. What are some of your most anticipated releases for the rest of 2015? Let me know!

Top Ten Books Which Feature Characters Who Are of Color

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. A new topic is given every week.

This week's theme is Top Ten Books Which Feature Characters Who _____. I chose an option that ties into the Dive Into Diversity Challenge I'm participating in: characters who are of color. I'm pretty excited about this list.

1. Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler - Ally's BFF Vanessa (who's getting her own book this year!) is an Asian American actress, which is awesome. This is one of the first books I've read with an Asian girl around my age out in the world doing good things with her life, so I love Vanessa.

2. Ms. Marvel series by G. Willow Wilson - Ms. Marvel herself is Pakistani which is awesome because it's not a culture I know a lot about. I learned stuff reading just the first in this graphic novel series.

3. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - Park, one of my favorite book boys, is, I believe, half Korean.

4. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling - There are people of all different colors and backgrounds in these books, and it's one of the things I love the most about this series.

5. Make it Count by Megan Erickson - The MC in this book is Kat. She's Brazilian, and SO MUCH FUN to read about.

6. To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han - This was a cool book for me because of the whole growing up in an Asian household thing, which I've seen in very few other books.

7. Last Will and Testament by Dahlia Adler - Of course Dahlia has two books on this list because she writes such awesome diverse characters. Lizzie is a really fierce half Filipina, and I adore her.

8. Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley - THIS BOOK, GUYS. If I haven't already talked your ear off about this, it's a historical set in the time of segregation in the US. One of the MCs is African American, the other is white.

9. Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White - Jess is an islander living in the country, and she's noticeably different and looked down on because of her skin.

10. Cinder by Marissa Meyer - This takes place in dystopian China, so most of the characters are people of color.

That's all for this week's Top Ten Tuesday! Who are your favorite characters of color? Let me know!

Top Ten All Time FAVORITE Authors

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's theme is: Top Ten All Time Favorite Authors. This might end up being more than ten. We'll see!

In no particular order, here are my favorite authors.

1. J.K. Rowling - Of course Jo made the list. Harry Potter is my life, and I absolutely adore her writing style and her incredible world-building skills.

2. Morgan Matson - Morgan's books are some of my favorites ever. They're a perfect mix of absolute adorableness and seriousness when necessary. Also, her love for Taylor Swift makes me happy. She's awesome.

It may seem like I am, but swearsies, I'm not stalking Morgan.
3. A.G. Howard - Anita is just SO GOOD with words. Plus she wrote a love triangle that I actually loved in her Splintered series, and that hardly ever happens. I love her so much for it.

4. Sarah Dessen - Some of the very first YA contemporaries I ever read were Sarah Dessen's. While I haven't loved all her books, she and her books will always hold a special place in my heart because of that.

5. Cassandra Clare - Cassie wrote two series that I absolutely love, and she's created characters that I'll cherish for a lifetime.

6. Sarah J. Maas - I cannot even when it comes to Sarah's words and her world-building and just GAH.

Awkward, weird quality selfie with Sarah! Inside a Costco!
7. Rainbow Rowell - Rainbow's writing makes me SO happy, but it also makes me feel so many feels. I can always relate to her characters too, so that's pretty cool.

8. Gayle Forman - I am a Gayle Forman newbie, but OMG, I adore her. This woman writes extremely powerful books with ALL THE FEELS.

9. Kasie West - Kasie's contemporaries are my go-to when I need a pick-me-up. They're just so darn cute and fun. I recently read her Pivot Point duology, and it solidified the fact that I will read anything and everything from her.

I had the opportunity to meet Kasie last month, and I had such a huge fangirl moment.
10. Stephanie Perkins - I have so much love for Steph Perkins's books and the way she writes. Man, she's good.

11. Leigh Bardugo - I am also a Leigh Bardugo newbie, and I'm kicking myself for not reading her Grisha trilogy sooner because it's AMAZING. Her world-building and her characters and just EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. But also everything hurt. Leigh is a superstar.

Looks, it's me - mid-laugh and losing my chill - and Leigh - looking gorgeous and collected!
12. Melina Marchetta - Okay, so I've only read one book by Melina, but because
that book, Jellicoe Road for those not already aware, is my favorite ever, I needed to put her on this list. Also, I need to read more of her books.

So that's it! Those are my favorite authors! I went a little bit over ten, whoops! Anyway, who are your faves? Lemme know in the comments or on Twitter!

Top Ten Characters I'd Like to "Check In" With

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish

This week's topic is: Top Ten Characters You'd Like To Check In With (meaning, the book or series is over and you so just wish you could peek in on the "life" you imagine they are leading years down the line after the story ends).

Once I saw this topic I knew I absolutely had to do this week's because so many characters immediately came to mind.

1. Eleanor from Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell: The end of E&P broke me, so I'd really like to check up on Eleanor and see how she's doing. I hope she'd be okay.

2. Jemma and Ryder from Magnolia by Kristi Cook: When we last saw these two, they were keeping up the pretense of hating each other to their parents. I'd like to see how well that worked out.

3. Addie from Split Second (Pivot Point #2) by Kasie West: To avoid being spoilery I'll just say: I'm really curious to see how Addie has adjusted to her life.

4. Amy and Roger from Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson: We're probably on the same page if you've read this. I WANT TO KNOW WHERE THEY ARE NOW.

5. Jonah Griggs from Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta: C'mon. You knew he'd show up eventually. I'd love nothing more than to be able to check in with Jonah.

6. The Next Generation of Harry Potter from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling: I've read SO much HP next gen fanfiction, but I want need the real deal from Jo.

7. Eleanor from Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White: I am 98% sure I've talked about this before, but I'd love an Eleanor spin-off. She's just so awesome

8. Hazel Grace from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: How is Hazel Grace doing?

9. North and Marigold from It's a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown (From My True Love Gave to Me) by Stephanie Perkins: 30 pages was not enough for me. What happened after he left her apartment that night?! Are they together now? I MUST KNOW.

10. Willa from The Wedding Planner's Daughter series by Coleen Murtagh Paratore: I read the first four books in this series when I was in elementary/middle school, but I never finished it. I'd like to see where Willa is now and how her life worked out.

So those are the top ten characters I'd like to check up on! Who are some of yours?

Top 8 Books For Readers Who Like Sports Romance

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's pick is Ten Books for Readers Who Like (blank). I struggled with this for a while before Danielle (of Love at First Page) tweeted a list of possible topics and graciously let me steal one of hers. Thanks, Danielle!

Without further ado, here are ten eight (oops!) books/series for readers who like sports romance:

1. Dare You To by Katie McGarry

2. On the Fence by Kasie West

3. The Hundred Oaks Series by Miranda Kenneally: Most of these books are centered around a different sport. Horse racing, baseball, softball, cross country - you name it and Miranda Kenneally probably wrote about it.

4. Pivot Point by Kasie West

5. Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross

6. Crossing the Ice by Jennifer Comeaux

7. Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill

8. The Rusk University series by Cora Carmack: These are NA books centered largely around football. Each book is about a different player on the Rusk football team.

What are your favorite sports romances?

Top Ten All Time Favorites from the Past 3-5 Years

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Soo, I haven't done a Top Ten Tuesday post in, like, a whole month, but I'm back and attempting to do these regularly! This week's topic is: Top Ten Books You Would Classify As ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS from the past 3 years (you can extend it to 5 if you need to). I don't know if these means published in the last three years or read in the last three years, so I'm just going to go with the later because it's a little bit easier. I've read tons of books in the last few years, so this is only a tiny percentage of ones that I love. This was such a difficult post to write!

Here are my top ten books that I've read in the last 3-5 years (I have a feeling that no one is going to be surprised, haha), in no particular order:

1. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

3. I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios (My review here)

4. I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson (My review here)

5. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

6. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

7. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

8. Everything Leads to You by Nina Lacour

9. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

10. Dare You To by Katie McGarry
