Mini Reviews #4: Rebound and Bounce (Boomerang #2 and #3)
I recently finished Noelle August's (the writing duo of Veronica Rossi and Lorn Oberweger) Boomerang trilogy, and instead of subjecting you guys to two separate posts of shorter, gushy reviews, I decided to roll them both into one! A mini review two-fer special, if you will. Here it goes!

I was excited to find out we were getting Adam's story, but I was a little iffy when I read that he would be involved with Ali. But of course, I trusted that Oberweger and Rossi knew their characters better than I did, and I ended up loving them together.
There was a lot more angst between this pair than in the previous book because of the nature of their pasts, but it was still a lot of fun to read. They're both quick and witty, so there was tons of great banter, and of course, their chemistry was incredible.
I love this cast of characters; Grey and Philippe were hilarious additions. I love how in sync Ali and Adam are with each other and how well they fit as a couple. I loved watching them come to terms with themselves as individuals, so they could grow together. Basically Adam and Ali (and this book) are everything I wanted them to be and more.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: I love music-centric books. They are my favorites, so I'm not at all surprised I love this book.
I loved the friendships in Bounce, especially the Skyler/Mia/Beth one because I live for strong female friendships in YA/NA. Skyler and Grey's friendship was also great and so fun to watch progress into something more. Their shared passion for music was beautiful, and one of my favorite passages I've ever read was something Grey thought to himself early on in the novel:
"Music is where I belong. Music is my home. Music doesn't ever leave, or give you up, or smack you around, or treat you like someone else's dirty laundry. It doesn't want you to be better than you are. It doesn't make you feel forgotten, or unimportant, or ashamed. Music is all. It's everything. Home."
I got chills reading that. So accurate. I don't know what I loved more: Grey and Skyler's relationship, or that whole line. Both are pretty magical, and I adored them.

Looks like the Boomerang series ended on a positive note! I read a sample of the first book but never bought it. I wish it was an audiobook!
ReplyDeleteIt would be good as an audiobook ,especially with the right narrator, but I'd definitely recommend buying a physical copy or ebook copy anyway. :)
